About the publication
Kaupapa Brief.
Kaupapa Brief is a weekly, evidence-led assessment of New Zealand policy, legislation, consultation and significant political proposals that may matter to Māori organisations.
Our Assessment
Our Assessment interprets what a policy, legislative development or political proposal may mean in practice. It is deliberately nonpartisan and distinguishes verified facts from analysis.
- Evidence-led: grounded in primary material and clearly attributed evidence.
- Even-handed: government and political-party proposals face the same analytical tests.
- Māori-impact focused: examines consequences for iwi, hapū, marae, Māori providers, communities and whānau without treating Māori as a uniform group.
- Practical: explains the causal path from a policy decision to operational effects.
- Proportionate: reaches only the conclusions supported by the available evidence.
- Action-oriented: identifies what readers should ask, prepare for, influence or monitor.
How to use the brief
